i would like to say what oil to use but i think the 4.7 might be different than my 3.9 V6. so ill let the 4.7 experts say what oil to use. but i like thicker oil than the factory say. iam just old school that way. i run valvoline premium blue 15w-40. factory fill for dodge Cummings diesel. but it might be to thick if you live above Kansas.

5w30 is what I run in mine. Brand is up to you. We all have our own preference.

10w30 here. Tho my vehicle is a spare so.. It only gets 40 miles a month on average.

I do notice oil consumption is a bit less with 10w30.

I'm a 'stick with one brand' motor oil guy. Others are fine too, but I've used Castrol regular dino oil for 25 years on everything. I'm not sure what the difference is in the 'high mileage' version is, but since my D is at 100,000+ as of 6 weeks ago, I started using that. I change the oil every 3,333 miles (easy to know when next is due, 3333, 6666, 0000). I rotate the tires and inspect the brakes then too, and check all the other fluid levels.
