Default flooring and loss of rpms

if I floor it on the highway with pedal all the way on the floor I hit 70 going to 80 and my foot will still be pinned and rpms will start dropping unless I let off a lil it will get its power back., any reason why ?

also sometimes when driving threw city or light gassing it it seems to shift early , my truck when i had it it didnt feel that way are the tranny bands adj. diffrently in the durangos ?

Well, you have the 5.9L so you would have the 46RE (same as the ram) so should be the same adjustments since there the same trans. I would start small, Have you ever changed the speed sensor on the tail of the trans? if not i would start there and also check the TV cable and shifter linkage adjustments.

Is your torque converter locking up when it isn't supposed to? I have recently started noticing this, I think mine might be doing it, and my dad has a 2000 dakota having a similar issue as well. I will be doing some more testing to try and pinpoint it.

A couple of things I have found so far. Testing the tps to see if its bad, and the lockup solenoid.
