I have a 1998 Durango, and have a loud howl in the rear end I changed the rear differential fluid, but it still is howling could it be the axel bearings?

We did indeed put the rear slip additive in there. We also changed or replaced the axle bearings, and still the noise, its driving us NUTS because we can't figure it out!!![:@] SO we are going to buy some new tiress and see if that is what is causing the problem, or could it be the bands that need to be tightened? I dunno any suggestions would help!! Thanks in advance!!

It could be the gears. I would have them checked out.
