'01 Engine or torque converter noise?
Hey guys,
I have an '01 Durango with 123k on it that I bought with known bad head gasket. I just got done replacing all the bearings in the engine and having the heads rebuilt, new lifters, new timing kit installed and all back together.
With it running, it makes a knocking/tapping noise that to me sounds like a rod knock, but I just got done redoing all the rod and crankshaft bearings.
I laid under it just on now with the engine running, and it really sounds like the noise is actually coming from the torque converter/bellhousing area.
Has anyone had a weight in their converter come loose, or had a noise that sounds like this from their tranny?
I'm really hoping it is not coming from the engine, which it shouldn't be, unless it has a bad wrist pin. I did not pull the pistons/rods from the block when I had it out; I found a worn bearing on #2 rod that I suspected as the culprit for the noise and gladly replaced the bearings and put it all together only to start it and have the same noise!
So, this could be sort of good news, but maybe not.
Hoping that maybe it's just the converter... any ideas?
Thanks.

Just pulled off the inspection cover and checked the bolts, and also checked the flexplate for cracks like I've seen from other posts, but bolts are tight and flexplate does not have any cracks that I can see.
The noise changes with engine rpm. Only time it gets quieter is during deceleration.
