Default repainting bumpers

my durango has those ugly gray plastic bumpers. i was curious if anyone has tried to wrinkle paint them or used bedliner coating on them to make them look alittle tougher. im thinking about doing the running boards and grille too. any suggestions?

Is the plastic smooth? If so you could prime them and paint them body colored. Plastidip would be a good option if you didn't want to paint them body color because it's rubbery and durable like bed liner and can be pulled off without damaging anything if you change your mind about it down the road.

I had my brush bumper coated with bedliner and don't regret it. The only thing that sucks is bug strikes or anything that gets into the texture of the coating can be a pain to get out.

No it was chrome steel, but I had it professionally done at an auto body shop. I don't personally care for the results of that thin spray can stuff.

I registered just to respond to this. :P

I have an '01 Impala (plan on trading it for a durango once i replace my lost title, which is why I'm here) that I wanted to do the same thing with, cause if they weren't matched to the body, the trim was a dull black/grey. I wanted them to stand out a little more just as you do for yours. I found some bumper paint at Walmart and decided to paint it with that. I'm sure any outdoor/plastic use paint will work just fine for it. But here's the difference to give you an idea.. Assuming it'll help regardless of being a different vehicle.

(I apologize if the pictures are too large.)
