Default guessing its valve stem seals

recently bought my wife an 01 with a 4.7 4x4. while I was deployed she had a few problems with it, but nothing to major. I get back and fix the items and do the oil and air filter. a month later she gets a guage light and oil pressure is low. I have her park it and I find out it is about 4 quarts low. I know I filled it correctly, and used 10w30 synthetic blend ( was low on funds or I would have used full synthetic). the guy we bought it from had 15w40 in the storage compartment that I tossed out. this time I put Mobil 1 full synthetic in it, and I'm not noticing any consumption. it has a light blue/ white smoke at startup, but not after its been running a while. I also noticed she was low on coolant. I did a block test and no exhaust in the coolant... talking with a few people and googling, I've come to the conclusion that it's possibly the valve stem seals... anyone have any other ideas, and possibly some tips or directions for replacing them? I don't have a large budget, especially with holidays around the corner.

Try running a high mileage oil like Valvoline max life. It has additives to seal old engines.
I use in my D and the Dakota.
