Default 2003 Durango Won't Turn Over

2003 Durango 4.7l 4WD won't turn over. Battery is fully charged. I cleaned the terminals. There is no clicks or anything when I turn the key on. I'm thinking it may be the solenoid. Is the solenoid attached to the starter or separate?

Do you experts think it sounds like the solenoid? If not, what else should I look at?

Thanks!

sounds like the starter isn't even getting power. the solenoid is part of the starter.

Thanks for the reply. I'm thinking the problem is either the starter or the ignition switch. Is the actual ignition switch down the steering column under the dash?

It is cold as H3LL here in Colorado through the weekend and we have snow on the ground and the Durange is dead outside! I'm not looking forward to crawling under it to replace the starter!

Just for the hell of it try starting it in neutral, maybe the neutral safety switch is bad. You could also try jumping 12v directly to the solenoid and see if that makes the starter run, if it does you know the solenoid and starter are both goo.

I did try in both Park & neutral. Same thing.

I will try to jump straight to the starter/solenoid on Saturday when it is supposed to be all of 19 degrees! It's 7 degrees at the moment.

Default UPDATE: Got It Fixed

My problem was the ignition switch. Of course Murphy was helping me. I broke the steering wheel tilt lever in the process of getting the steering column covers! It is always something!

Thanks for all of your help!

Danny
