Short answer, no. Long answer yes. It would not be easy and you'd need a harness out of an 01+ 5.9 durango since the cluster and stuff is different on the 98-00. It would be a long and tedious process. I think a hemi swap would be easier.

Might also need to swap out the PCM, What year did they got from the 3 to 4 plug?

I do agree tho its much more work then its worth IMO.. You may be walking into a hellish electrical nightmare as well.

I'm certain he will. I played around with a Rango that had a bad PCM not too log ago. (98 5.2L V8) using the PCM from my 98' 5.9L worked, but it jacked with the performance of the engine. If I'm not mistaken, due to the size difference in the motors, the PCM would have to be tuned at the least, because it'll have slightly different needs.

If I due recall, it was in 2000 that it went to a 4 plug. The mini generation of the 98-9 do have there differences. And if I'm not mistaken, there was a small change from 01-02 also. Didn't the change out the entire dash and other minor electrical set-ups? That might be a problem, but I'm not sure, I'm just voicing my opinion.

Non matching engine/PCM, engine/transmission/, engine/wiring harness, 99-02 worth of possible changes in systems. Hopefully it works out, but I have my skepticism on this one.

Yes, the PCM's for the 5.2 and the 5.9 are different... as you said it will work to get you home if needed to use one or another but wont work as a perm. fix..

2001 was the year that they updated the whole interior.. Something tells me it might have been 2001 the 4 plug PCM was changed as that was the first year the 4.7 was used as the standard engine.

I don't think the 4 plug pcm came in until late 02, for the 4.7 at least

the 5.2 and 5.9 always had the 3 plug PCM, the 4.7 had the 3 plug PCM in 00, 01 and 02, and the 4 plug PCM in 02 and 03. (yes the switch was made mid-year 2002)

that said i think this swap would be way more trouble than its worth, and you would need the new harness, correct PCM, new mounts (motor and tranny) ect ect
