Default 2003 durango problem

ive got a 03 awd durango and its having some problem thats maybe someone knos something about.makes a loud clank roar sound when moving and foot on the accelerator but when i let go at any speed it stops.ive looked at both axle shafts ive replaced belt tensioner idler pully water pump a/c compressor and belt.it sounds like its coming from the front axle but it doesnt make sense that it stops when im coasting... any one have any idea what it could be

Uh, you're going to have to be more specific. More details, no detail is trivial. Maybe post up a video via youtube or something.

Yeah, more info would help. I'd guess it's driveline related though if it only does it while accelerating

Have you checked the front drive shaft? I have an 02 AWD with 150K and that was my problem. I was replacing everything and that was my last part replacement.

ive taken the front tires off and looked at them and nothing seemed bad.. but thats the only thing i think it can be im going to pull it all apart tomorrow...

Jack up the front end and turn the wheels back and forth, and see if you can tell where the noise is coming from.

ive already done that there is no play at all and i dont here the noise when i turn the wheels..cant roll the wheels fast enough to hear it.i drove the truck today and hung my head out the door and it sounded like the axle shaft area to me

Well in my experience a bad cv joint or u joint would usually (not always) make noise and have slop if it was bad, even if you rock it back and forth. Just to make sure, you've determined it's not the accessory drive by revving the engine in neutral or park, no? It might be a good idea to open the front diff and inspect it, the seals and oil probably need replaced anyway.

yea ive basically eliminated the engine.everything on the belt drive is brand new..ive reved in part,nuetral,and in drive with foot on the brake and it doesnt make any unusual sound..yea ill take the diff cover off and make sure everything is fine inside..
