My '03 Dodge Durango SXT 4.7L

Haven't been on here for awhile. Finally got a new job so now I can start putting stuffs on the Durango that I wrote on a wishlist to get. I have a dent by the gas tank from somebody over the weekend turned into it at the boat landing and have a rust forming on the right side of the lift gate. So how can I fix it myself? Could I leave the fender flares and bumpers the way it is or paint it to paint code or black?

Not sure if I understand your question right, but the fender flares and bumpers are plastic, no paint. You could paint them if you wanted...but be sure to use a "flexible/Plastic" paint (or maybe Plasti-Dip. They do not have to be removed, just mask off appropriately.
If you are looking to redo the lift gate , then you can decide how much body work you want to do. It could be as simple as sanding the rust off, then printing and painting the affected area, or doing the whole lift gate. Considering the age, I would say "spot fix it". No need to remove the bumper or flares in this case either.
Your VIN number/build sheet would define your Color Code.
Does this help or did I misunderstand something?
BTW - welcome back!
