2000 4.7 loud power steering
Last year I replaced my per steering pump, the reservoir cracked and unfortunately I had to get the whole power steering assembly. Now my pump is very loud and when cold it's like I have no power steering. I have to turn it lock to lock so the power steering works. Is it possible that it's not bled correctly? Or maybe rack and pinion is bad? It has a new high pressure line and the low pressure line looks alright. Fluid is full, any suggestions? Thanks
I think there is a presure switch on the pressure line you could give a look at. Also if you used the wrong PS fluid it could have broke down, you should be using either Red PS fluid from the dealer or ATF+4 trans fluid.
when i replaced the pump i didnt get the fluid from the dealer. so hopefully that didn't ruin the new pump. The pressure sensor is actually new, along with the high pressure line. I fully flushed my system with 2 and a half bottles of atf4, and refilled with atf4. the noise died down a little bit, and the cold steering issues went away completely. now an even bigger problem has arose, that i'll start another thread for. basically a 14 mile drive from campus to the aviation center i use a full tick of gas, and i know the gauge is right, the gas station shows it
