Took everything apart put it back together found another ground that screws into the metal on the inside of the dash. Interior lights work now when the doors are open. Still no headlights....or foglights or instrument cluster light. With the switch disconnected I use a wire as a jump and could get a fog light to light up. But nothing with the switch. Could it be the switch? I did drop it while moving parts around. The dimmer works on the interior lights and the a/c heat controls. Just not the fog lights headlights or instrument cluster light. airbag light is still on........ I really regret ever trying this. Nothing in this vehicle is easy something always breaks or get messed up. The easiest thing Ive done on it was the lifters. even then I had to cut off all the heads of the valve cover bolts.

Could be the switch. Mine quit working the fog lights a couple months ago, so I went to the junkyard and got another one for a couple bucks.

The only thing I don't get is the instrument cluster light..... the headlights and fog lights im guessing the switch but the dash shouldn't be the switch right? Looks like I will be driving it during the day for awhile. enless the fan or one of the other items on the heater housing is needed to complete the circuit. Might have to bring it to a shop. most likely not. cant really afford it and its slightly embarrassing...... Ive never had anything like this happen to me before. Well once after installing a 5.2 I bent the dust cover to the flywheel slightly and started her up and had an awful noise Thought I ****ed up. lol had a good laugh.

This is why you should pay a competent person to perform the work. There is no design flaw. You simply just don’t know what you’re doing. And there is nothing wrong with that - no one expects you to know everything.

However, based on what you provided, it sounds like you cut or shorted something out somewhere down the line. Which sucks, because it’s an electrical nightmare.

Best of luck to ya.

The switch is what tells all the lights to come on, so the dash lights not working is most likely due to the switch.

went to the jy pulled a heater housing and switch came out way easier than mine did. hooked them up and were all good. What a pita that was. Thanks for all the help guys.
I do disagree though. I see this cheap plastic heating system as a flaw. I like a lot of other things about the vehicle just not the dash. I also don't like the way the design of the engine bay blows salt off the road and cakes it on both sides of the engine causing horrible corrosion. just on the sides front and rear of the engine look new but the sides look like the titanic. I had to replace all of the freeze plugs and exposed bolts. Both of the clamps on the exhaust manifold rusted off. Granted that's why I bought it for cheap. I do love everything about the rear axle the tow capacity the select trac transfer case design is good too. But every car has its design flaws.
