If you go that route get a controller to bump the on to 185 degrees. On the 01-03 models the fan only comes on at 210* (too hot alone) or only when the AC is on when outside temps are 75* or higher.
OEM electric auxiliary cooling fan was available starting on 2000 models.

On my 2000 model, factory on setting for electric fan is around 215 and shuts off around 205. Kinda stupid to have such a small temperature range window.

I recommend to anyone that has the oem auxiliary electric cooling fan that is controlled by your PCM to purchase a SCT tuner or tuner programmer. You can manually set your own on/off temperature for the auxiliary cooling fan. No need for a dedicated external thermostat controller. And the good benefit of a program tuner, you can tweak out a few extra hp's out of your engine as well.

My Hughs SCT tuner, I had sent the specs to hughes to have my fan come on at 195 and off at 180. Works beautifully.

I installed two additional 10 inch pancake fans setup as pushers in front of the a/c coil to add supplement cooling along with my oem auxiliary electric fan during DFW's super hot summer temperatures. The 10 inch pancake fans, make sure they aren't thicker than 2.5 inches or possibly 2.75 inches. You will have to purchase some washers to extend out your front grill slightly in order for you to close the hood and not hit and push against the pancake fans. Each 10 inch fan is rated around 1000 cfm's and low amperage consumption. 80 watts per fan.
