Default Bored Out Throttle Body

So I decided I wanted to do a mod that was worth a bit of POWERRRR (Jeremy Clarkson voice), so I decided on a bored out throttle body. I got it from this guy on ebay. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=261375258296 He does the same stuff that fastman does, but for less money, which works for me because I couldn't afford a fastman one

Before I started working

Starting to tear things down

Old and new throttle bodies

You can definitely see that the new one has a smoother bore (transition wise) and doesn't have that bit in the middle of the bore that is narrower.

Sensors transferred over to the new throttle body. I accidentally got degreaser everywhere from cleaning the IAC, so that's what the spots are.

Trimming the new gasket to accommodate the larger bore. The right side was still uncut.

New throttle body bolted on.

Airhat and everything back in place.

I haven't really got on it yet (the guy said not to go WOT too much until the PCM has a chance to relearn everything), but it does feel more responsive though. I still have to make some small adjustments to the TV cable too.

As for the oil on the old throttle body, it's coming from the crankcase breather. Keep in mind this is 15 years worth of it too, cleaning out the throttle body was one of those jobs that I had been meaning to do for a long time, but never got around to.

The source is pretty obvious

There's a bit of oil in the intake from the breather, but certainly no puddles thankfully

The IAC definitely needed a good cleaning too.

Keep us updated on the performance. I debated going through that guy too, I just wasn't sure if the quality and the resulting performance was up to par of the fastman.

The quality seems excellent to me. The only real difference I can see with fastman's are that he makes the throttle blades from brass and he makes thinner throttle shafts. I've never had a fastman one in my hand though so there may or may not be more to it.

I've wanted to get the 52mm bore from that same guy for a while now. Let us know how WOT goes. This is on my to do list when I have money again.

Oh I will. He recommended that I don't go above the 50mm with the 5.2, but the 5.9 is fine with the 52mm.

I put a Fastman 52mm in mine 12 years ago. Still works.

Throttle bodies don't usually wear out

Got a chance to really step on it getting onto the highway yesterday. It's way more responsive and it feels like it pulls a little better at the top of each gear. It's smoother driving around town normally, and it idles a lot smoother now too, although that's probably more to do with the IAC. So far so good then.
