how much does lifting cost?
I don't really think you can get a lift without messing with the ride. You figure that when you turn the torsion bars you're stiffening them up. Honestly I wouldn't bother with the lift unless you absolutely need it.
If I were you I would just leave it stock but that my opinion.

i did a T/S lift and it changed the look of the truck for me it looks better alil higher in my opinion. it did stiffen the ride. it wasnt hard to do. there are lots of threads on here that discuss this. other than that i would go do a body lift. it plenty high enough. i like the look and with a little bit bigger tire itll be at the perfect height.
Cranking the torsion bars and tossing chevy shackles on the rear is pretty much the safest you can do on these guys. Some say the the ride is a bit stiffer and some say they dont notice a difference.
It just depends on what you want the lift for and if you can do it yourself.
I found after I lifted my the ride to be a bit stiffer, but that is could also be attributed to the HD shocks I put underneath.
I think you can get a Torsion Key / Shackle kit for less than $200. There are some here who will say to use your stock Torsion Keys, and only buy the shackles. The shackles alone are probably around $80-100 for the pair.
New shocks (recommended unless yours are fairly new) could be around $200 or more.
An alignment is NEEDED - around $60-100
So, you are in for $500 and that is if you do your own labor.
Of course all of this does not include new tires, if that is why you are lifting it.
As for a body lift, not sure what year your DD is, but there was not one for 2003.

$10 for new bolts and nuts for shackles.
Torsion keys are paperweights. You're paying for a part that does the samething your vehicle can do without.
Alignment- average cost around $60
Tires- optional decision solely dependant of vehicle owner.
So all in all it can be done for roughly around $100. If one does their own labor.
May be best to get shackles that are designed for the Durango. I would rather have parts this fit the width than to have it "MacGuyver'd" with washers. Maybe that is just me?
