Default Fuel pump wont work all the time.

I have a 2002 Durango. The other day while driving out my lane it just died. I tried several times to restart it with no luck. It turned over, just didn't fire. Maybe 20 minutes later I tried one more time and it started right up and ran fine. I turned it around and drove it back to the house. Left it running and it died again. When I turned the key on the fuel pump was not coming on. I replaced the fuel relay hoping that was it. Didn't help. Tried it again a little later. Had my wife turn the key and I could hear the pump come on. Had her try it again and same thing I heard the pump come on. So I had her try to start it. It started right up. Ran fine for 30 seconds and then you could here it idling down until it died again. Had her turn the key off them back on and no sounds from the pump. I did check for fuel at the rail during the times it wouldn't start and there wasn't much and little pressure. So what do you think is wrong?

Thanks in advance for your help.

When you are trying to start and not hearing the fuel pump prime, look at your odometer and see if it says "no bus". If that is in fact the case, I would tell you to start checking all your 5V sensors. If all your sensors are working properly, then I would say it's your PCM. Before you do all that, I'm assuming you have checked for loose or chafed wires to your fuel pump?

You need a new pump.
Old one heats up and seizes. After it cools down it works again.
