I’ll agree the Dakota/Durango can tow much more than their intended payload. Just like any other vehicle can..

However those weight ratings are in place for both pre-mature mechanical failure and public safety.

With that said, I think you’re an idiot to pull 10k pounds of load with said vehicle. Bragging about it is even more immature. It’s people like you that over-load a vehicle that cause accidents. Accidents that can have deadly results.

Otherwise, yes they are fantastic trucks with great build quality. I always say I’ll trade mine in for something newer/bigger - but fact is I just love the damn thing too much.

Wow seriously uncalled for. I've been a member of this forum for around 8 years so I'm not going to bother to get butthurt and argue with you on a public domain. However if you want to talk about immaturity how a bout calling someone out for no reason and calling them an idiot on an online forum without knowing their back story and reasoning. With that said I am done with this conversation. I will add that I know people that overload their vehicles constantly and yes it is dangerous and does cause premature failure but you show me someone who hasn't done something with a vehicle or piece of machinery in their entire life that exceeded its intended purpose because it was necessary and I will retract my statement

I apologize for the double post but I would also like to note that when said trailer was pulled it was done on a load leveling hitch. There was a car in front flagging and tires drive train and load were inspected every 30 miles. It was a very slow drive that never exceeded 40 mph. Also the trip was taken on low populated roads. I do not condone overloading vehicles if it can be helped but I also understand that I live in a farming community and sometimes you have to do what is necessary to survive. Money was tight the big truck was broke down and the tractor needed to be home that night or else 3500 square bales would have been lost. I hate how some people treat their trucks like a semi day in and day out it is dangerous and stupid.

No need to get upset at all about it. It’s a personal view. Take it with a grain of salt, that’s all.

You can’t disagree that your actions were idiotic. But if you’re that ignorant to create excuses to try and justify your actions - Then these really are black and white views. I always stand up proud and admit my faults or mistakes. I’m not perfect and have done some stupid **** in the day. Learned from it, and moved on. To level it out - I drove at speeds about 100-110mph for roughly 3 hours on an open highway with my girlfriend sleeping in the car. Not proud but at that point in time, I did what I thought was best or cool. Learned from it and moved on.

End of the day, I’m not impressed.

well you can keep your opinion and I will keep mine. I did stupid stuff when I was a teenager too because I thought it was cool. Not proud of this but I topped my truck out on a curvy back road and almost hit a utility truck learned from that and moved on. It was STUPID and it was because I was mad at a cheating girlfriend. But I just personally wouldn't call pulling the trailer idiotic. I would however say it probably wasn't the best idea in the world but the proper precautions were taken so other people wouldn't get hurt. My concern was for other peoples safety above my own so if that makes me an idiot then I guess 90% of us farmers are including myself but we do feed the world. Nothing is meant by the feed the world statement because I'm sure someone will take it wrong and I'm not pointing any fingers so please don't assume that. Its just one occupation among many that are necessary for life as we know it to exist. I am no more important than anyone else. Nothing is black and white its a grey area. So if we can shake hands and both agree to disagree then we can all be friends. I have a couple pictures of the Durango if anyone is interested in me posting them.

Yeah, that PS4 color (platinum metallic)

I've yet to see a Dakota in the same color. It would look super slick.
