Default 2002 Durango R/T front end issue

Hi, my Durango has started making noise mostly around 30-35mph, seems to do it mostly when coasting, usually not during acceleration or braking, if it does its during light acceleration/braking. It makes almost a binding/clicking/high pitched scraping noise. It seems to be on the drivers side, I checked out the cv axle, it seems to be fine and doesn't have play in it. I haven't gotten it up on a jack yet, to try moving the wheel back and forth, to see if its the ball joints or wheel bearing. It also seems to amplify the noise if I go over a bump. Thanks for suggestions in advance.

One other thing to add, the first time or two it did it, it sounded like it had a grinding/vibration, but I didn't really feel it in the steering wheel.

Pull your wheels off and check out the brake system.

After more searching i found a video, and it sounds like this, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ut2EL...ature=youtu.be He said it was the propeller shaft at the transfer case, has anyone else had this? His was a Dakota, mine is a Durango R/T so its awd, I'm guessing that shouldn't make a difference.

This may not sound constructive, but it is. Are you going to actually fix it after you find it, or pay someone to fix it? If you are going to fix it, then dig around with brakes and drive drive shafts and such and you'll probably find it. If you just want to know then will then take it somewhere to fix, just take it there now and let them have a hear. There is not much that can be done accurately from a thousand miles away on a computer.

I do most repairs to my vehicles, I was just trying to see if anyone with a Durango, had the same issue as the guy in the video, and myself. I'm just trying to figure out if it is the prop shaft, whether to replace the whole thing or just replace the ujoint and cv as I'll be rebuilding it myself. I'm thinking the shaft itself should be fine, most likely just the ujoint and/or the cv joint is bad.

I found a cv joint rebuild kit, Dorman 932-303, but I checked it on Dorman's website and it says it won't work for the R/T. I emailed them and asked to make sure, and they confirmed it will not, does anybody know of a cv joint rebuild kit that will work for the R/T, the Dorman kit is the only one I can find.

Did you actually crawl under there to check things out yourself? Don't buy a part until you know what part to buy, ever. Stop guessing.

I'm going to look at it this weekend when I do the oil change, I'm just trying to get information about parts, so if that is what I need I know where to go to get what I need. I'd rather not be looking once I figure out what it is thats wrong. I'd rather rebuild than purchase a new shaft, because of cost, however at this point it seems purchasing a new shaft is my only choice, thats why I was asking about the rebuild parts, if anyone has done their own they would know where to look, and/or get the parts.
