Added bushing oil (not to be confused with muffler bearings)
I sort of dodged a bullet (pun intended), but I know long term it's just a dodge.
My front end has 102k on the lower ball joints (original), and maybe 80k on the upper (changed on recall years ago). The truck runs fine, zero handling issues, no clunking, nothing. I checked the ball joints yesterday and all is fine.
However, the bushings creaked an embarrassingly huge amount. So, I took out some WD-40 and soaked all the front rubber bushings, control arms and sway bar. After a 10 mile ride, the creaking is completely gone, zero! As I said, I know it's not a permanent fix, but at least I'm not embarrassed to have passengers now.
