Default recall question.

So my 03 durango started making clunking noise on turns and i checked the suspension and to my surprise at 140k miles everything seemed stock. !!!!! shocks, joints. question i got is that i know there was a bolt join recall on 4x4 durangos and if i bring my dodge into the stealer ship can i make them replace it for free?

11 years later..... I doubt it. But I guess unless you ask, you'll never know.

I think there was a recall, but check one of the "stickie" threads above.

Odds are, your truck already had the recall performed. You can call dodge and inquire if it has indeed been completed.. vs making a trip only to find out and wasting travel time.

But if not completed to date, then yes by federal law they are required to correct the issue if no stipulations fall into place.

Also, if you’re running on all OEM equipment (shocks, ball joints, tie rods, ect.. ) then your truck drives like **** and you’ll need more than simple ball joints. I HIGHLY suggest you replace anything and everything in the suspension (about $1,500 in parts/labor).

The front ends are the weakest link on the Durango and once the front shocks go - it just adds much more stress on the other suspension points on the front end, thus wearing them out quicker.

My durango was probably the same way. It drove like a 12yr old truck should but no real concern. Come to find out, front shocks had no pressure. I rebuilt the whole front end and it drives like a brand new truck. Nice and tight. Takes corners better than my new Fusion car.

Contact Dodge for a build sheet.. If they don't have any record of the recall work being done, bring it to the dealers attention. When i bought my 98 in late 2010 the build sheet had no record of the fuel tank strap recall being done. I went to the dealer with my build sheet and the did the work free of charge.
