Helper Air suspension
Has anyone installed a system, such as firestone ride rite to help with towing? When I pull my car trailer it seems to really hurt the suspension as seen
I have been told the car should have been sitting on the wheels and not so far forward but either way i think it would be a nice addition.

Yes I installed the Ride Rite air bag system in my old 1998 Durango. http://www.firestoneip.com/riderite/KitSearch.aspx Install was a breeze straight bolt in. I ended up putting both air lines T'ed off into one line and drilled a small hole next to (pass side) my license plate in the rear directly next to the plate on that flat surface. Worked REALLY freaking great! I used the part # 2222
It says not for 2003 most likely because of the disk rear brakes but I bet you could still get it to work. About $300

fTrue, but I almost lost it one day while towing a grand cherokee on a trailer doing this method. Because I usually load motor first I underestimated the tonque weight. The wind was gusting 48mph that day and the trailer started swaying at 55mph, started to feel it little later trailer is in the other lane. Took up both lanes and 1/2mi to get it under control, thank god there wasn't any oncoming traffic. Needless to say I almost needed new underwear. Yes my fault all the way around. I did that method so my rear end didn't squat so much. It can be safely done, don't get me wrong. I do advise air springs for heavy loads. That is one complaint I have about the durangos rear suspension, no factory overloads.

The main reason I went to a HD 3/4 ton with 1 ton axels and springs with overloads. My truck handles the 750 tongue weight and 8250 lbs of the trailer just fine now for a grand trailer total of 9000. The stance and handling compared to the two are hands down Ram. Found out the trailer weight on the tags were incorrect after I weighed in on the scales after picking up my Ram. Anyway, my Ram weighs in a 7000 so that's a lot more steel over the Durango. I suggest actually weighing your loads and use the right vehicle for your intentions.
