Exclamation Are there any good MPG Chips for 2000 Dodge Durango?

I don't mind if I have to give up HP for MPG, I want a Durango but I don't want 11-15 mpg... I'd be happy with 14-17 if I could. Does anyone have any experience with MPG chips and Durango's? Thanks

I did the jeep tcm mod and get 12.5 city and about 21 Highway.

But you need a 4.7 and the tcm computer was only installed in a limited number of durangos

I don't think the TCM swap works for 2000 4.7s. A superchips or similar tuner might get you some small gain, but all those ebay things are useless ****. Biggest factor on mpg is your right foot anyway.

Two words "tune up".

Then again what engine are we even talking about? Stating things he "can do" that are incorrect because of equipment because of vehicle restrictions are useless and a waste of time, effort, and clogs the forum up with useless information. Until we know what he's got I would refrain from posting information.

There are a few 2000 durangos placed with a 4.7. I think very end of the model year tho.

My 2001 was built in September 2000 and it’s known that “middle 2001” production the TCM was built into the PCM.

Really wont know unless he looks, if he somehow does have a 4.7.

Just food for thought, we never know (because we are missing engine size lol)

That is VERY incorrect, 4.7L where first brought in early 2000 in which they are abundant as they stopped production of the 5.2L, in fact this is where the 16 tooth systems came into play later soiled out in mid 2001.

Do you actually have any hard evidence that the 4.7L came into existence in late 2000 or are you merely guessing?

I meant the electronics were different for 2000, so I don't think the tcm will swap over. I'm pretty sure I read that somewhere else too.

Going based on pure memory. Never said it was fact.

So care to stop trolling?

Correct, the PCM's shifted over in late 2001 / early 2002 into 32 bit systems, however that is not the issue. The problem was you need the older 16 bit JTEC PCM's of the first 4.7L. Everyone can read about the swap here instead of continuing an already covered thread: https://dodgeforum.com/forum/1st-gen...ml#post2576846

I don't need to "troll", I bring FACT and have the information to back it up.

You made a statement without knowing your information, in that people think you know what your talking about. With that statement you are giving members misinformation on purpose because you are knowingly making a "guess". If you decide to "guess" then please say something to the member in your posting that your information is off of memory so you could be wrong, or your guessing. The fact of the matter is posting up misinformation can have devastating consequences, and the poor person that listened to you in the first place has too pay for it. That is plain not cool!

I pleasantly asked you to simply provide the information to back up your statement, in which you clearly knew you could not.
