Default 5.2 Build Transmission T case questions

Hopefully in the near future I can pull my motor and build it up a little. Full rebuild, .030 over, Comp Cams 20-745-9, degree the cam, M1 intake, ported TB, 1.7 HS rockers, Custom SCT tune, port matched heads, polished exhaust runners, Headers, 2.5 straight pipe exhaust, K&N filter. Shooting for 300 rwhp and 340-350 rwtq, sound about right? Anyway I have a 44re and I've heard it can take up to 350 ft/lbs stock so I'd be cutting it close so I want to know If there are any high performance master rebuild kits for my tranny, otherwise I have to go through Transtar's catalog and try to get individual upgraded clutch packs. And what stall for the converter? 2400? And about the T case, I have the 231 and would like to know If anybody's swapped their 231 for the 242 and If that would be the thing to do for the extra power I'll have, would like the full time feature too.

The transfer case is a easy direct swap.. all you need to change is the shifter so you have that extra spot for the FT setting.

For the money it might be easier to build a 408 stroker.

231 should hold up just fine.

Trans, well you could upgrade to a 46RE with good internals. My old one was built to hold something like 500-550 hp, but I can't remember entirely.

I was also looking at doing a 390 stroker build but it would be several hundred more for what I would be doing to it. And since this would be my daily driver for rainy/crappy days, I'd like to stay out of the rain on my bike, and in the winter. Maybe a rebuild for the 231 with a new chain?

TBH, with a good set of all weather tires (unless of course you plan on doing a lot of off road) you should be good in 2wd most of the time.. I can count on one hand how many times i have used 4wd in my truck.

I don't plan on all that much off roading but I live in eastern North Dakota and just in the past two years I've had to pull out 4wd vehicles stuck on the interstate, not in the ditch but in the 16 inches of snow on the road and at times it's so slippery 2wd is uncontrolable. 4wd is regularly used on my D.

I would do a master rebuild on the case and just see how she runs.
