Oil pan removal help
99 5.9 4x4 SLT
I have removed all of the oil pan bolts and all of the transmission inspection plate bolts I can see. The oil pan is loose and I can drop the front and it will tilt, but not get the rear of the pan to drop.
Due to poor lighting and lots of built up dirt under the truck, I cannot see if what is in the way. Do I need to pull the inspection plate to drop the oil pan? I know the proper way is to drop the front axle, but I am trying the cut and wrap around method.
Any help in what I should be looking for to get it tor drop is appreciated.
Thanks, Eric

FSM says you have to remove the inspection plate. It also says that you have to either remove the front axle or lift the engine a bit in order to get the pan to clear everything to come out.. If its not coming down i would look to make sure you got all the bolts out and there's not one hidden around the area.
I appreciate you looking it up for me. The long way has started with the front axle drop. I needed to remove a damaged wheel barring and half shaft anyway from a high speed trip to a rocky median (it also happened to bend the frame, rear axle and collapse a rear leaf spring).
This rig is turning to a dedicated weekend machine, need to fix the leak to save the driveway.

I remember there' being something there, and I think you have to remove the inspection cover bolts then pull it down. Anyway, take a look at this thread. My # 2 and Masters # 9 post. https://dodgeforum.com/forum/1st-gen...ing-on-me.html
