Default blowing brake and directional fuses

I have a 2000 Durango that has recently started blowing both the directional and brake fuses. The vehicle is equipped with factory installed tow equipment. I can activate the brake lights by using the trailer switch however when using the pedal no brake lights nor does the power light come on the trailer switch as it did before. Also there are no indicator lights lit on the dashboard. Any guidance as a place to start is appreciated

Well there's your problem. Your not supposed to light the brake lights on your trailer with an electronic brake controller. Your wiring job on the trailer is bad.

The only thing your brake controller does is send variable voltage to the brakes dependent on how hard the stop is. The blue wire on the trailer should be your trailer brake.
