Default Remote Start/Keyless Entry/Security System?

Hello to all,
I have a 2002 Dodge Durango, 4.7 SLT. I was looking for a good remote starter and keylees entry and alarm system for this Durango. This has a factory Alarm and keyless already. So should I just get a remote starter, and keep the rest?
I have looked on the forums sight, and I find allot of people using remote systems. I just could not find one on a 02 Durango.
Any suggestions?
I would like a bit of range say, about 2000 feet is fine.
Some option like smartphone capable, confirmation start, parking lights.
Budget is $400.00, can be a little higher if need be. I figure that's a good starting price, that's with labor.

What's a reliable brand that works well with the Durango?
I live in Chester, Ct 06412 (USA) If someone knows a good place to buy and install.
Thank you for any help, and have a nice Thanksgiving.

honestly, we typically recommend against these systems as they cause numerous hard to diagnose electrical issues later on down the road in these trucks.

if you have a list of popular ones installed on 1st gen trucks just follow that, the 2001-2003 trucks are all the same and 1998-2000 are all the same and the difference between those two groups are minimal

Thank you for your reply,
How about just a basic remote starter. I will keep the Keyless entry and the alarm that comes with the Durango, and just add a basic remote start. Will that work ok? No bells and whistles. I don't have the so called grey key. I went to dodge and i asked if i put a system in do i need a bypass module. I gave them the vin number and said no I don't have the gray key that requires the bypass.
Please let me know what you think. It's really for the wife and kids, i don't mind the cold. I have a oil pan heater installed and it gets plugged in at night.
Will the remote starter (only) setup, cause any problems down the road or will just that be ok.
Thank you for your response as well

I had the compustar installed on my Dakota, at future shop for $370. Mine is just a one-way, so there is no confirmation that the truck has started. The 2 ways will cost you about another $100, So far mine has done its job. I don't know about the alarms or anything like that.

typically anything that interfaces w/ the electronics of the CTM (central timer module) and attempts to control them (remote start, alarm, ect) will cause issues down the road, the fewer features the longer your trouble free time will be, but eventually they always seem to come up, if it were up to me i would pass.

I bought my '02 new and had a Viper "2 way" remote installed. Never had a problem with the electronics with it. Unfortunately the Durango got totaled last year and the system went with it.

I have a python 2 way alarm with remote start on my 2000 durango, installed myself and no issues. They will generally be trouble free-- if installed correctly. On the other hand my 01 R/T is stock, but the CTM went out on its own... so I wouldnt necessarily blame remote starts/keyless for causing CTMs to fail...........

they are definitely NOT the only things that can cause a CTM to fail, but they definitely push alot of them over the edge, i would stay away, but thats just one mans opion you can do with it as you please.
