Default 1999 5.9 auto won't turn over

So I'm driving home on the freeway after working a 16 hour shift in the pouring rain when the engine of my 99 Durango/5.9L/automatic stops running. I coast to the shoulder and when I'm through cussing out my trusty rusty vehicle, I begin trying to get it going again. Everything electrical seems to be working (battery is less than 6 months old), I hear the fuel pump run when I turn the key and all the lights and bells work. The engine revs like a pro but won't turn over. After the tow truck dropped it off in my driveway I cleaned out the intake and tried it again, to no avail. I can't remember ever changing the plugs or wires. Its had no major engine or trans work done since I bought it in '09. Looking for suggestions, thanks for anything you can offer in advance.

Check for spark at the plugs. Might be the ignition coil.

+1 First check for spark, then check for fuel at the fuel rail.

1999's have a bad wrap for having PCM's go out for some reason. Usually after they cool off the truck starts again. But yours actually sounds like something got wet and either blew or shorted out.

It has always had trouble starting after a good rain... and it was pouring when the engine quit. I guess that would make sense. Once it gets back above 20 degrees here i'll start pulling plugs and checking that pcm out.

Something's getting wet and it could be the PCM, or maybe the alternator. Once a member found that their CTM was getting wet, but your CTM should be in the dash.

Could be many things, but first rule out spark and fuel.
