Default Need help removing front axle

I have removed the front drivers side axle before, and it was very difficult to get out. I need to do it again and was wondering if anyone knows any tricks? It's a 2003 Durango with 4WD.

There is a retaining ring and groove that holds it in and the only way I ever got em out was to just pry and smack it with a hammer while prying it should jump out of the groove holding it hopefully. If its corroded in try some penetrating fluid.

Guess they changed the CVs for the 01-03 models. It was just a simple 6 bolts for me to remove mine when I changed the ball joints this summer.

Well, it took two people. What we did was just as dxloat suggested. Penetrating fluid first, then one of us put outward pressure on it with a long pry bar, while another kept smacking the axle with a 2# hammer. It finally gave. Thanks everyone.
