Default New to the forum and have fuel question

Whats up guys, My name is Eddie D, I have a 1st gen 03 durango. I bought it about a month ago. Its a awesome truck, it has 229000 miles all highway and runs strong. A few days ago i to a 5 hour drive out to PA and she was running good, just a few time i pushed the pedal to speed up the truck would jerk a bit and i would push more and it would stop. Other than that she ran fine.

Question is could it be bad gas? or fuel pump/filter?

thanx for the help.

O and is there a external fuel filter?

Thanx again

Have you done any maintenance on the vehicle since purchased? Do you know the service history? Could just need a tune up. Welcome to the forum.

I've done a oil change, changed the oil filter and air filter. Rebuilt the transfer case and new drive shaft. That's about it.

I'd start with a tune up.

OK I'll work on a tune up. It's a 4.7, sorry forgot to mention that. Thanx again for the help.

Well unfortunately that rules out simple things like cap & rotor and plug wires since the 4.7 is coil on plug. It would be worth changing the plugs still. Giving the throttle body a good cleaning never hurts either. I'm not familiar with the 4.7 so I can't really make any suggestions beyond that.

Could also be vacuum leake related, but, as stated, may need to clean the tb and IAC and putin new plugs. Run a few cans of lucas fuel injector cleaner through it.
