Default Fuel injector plastic tip?

I'm doing the plenum gasket and had a problem getting the 14 yr old injectors out, o-rings glued to the intake walls. I didn't want to break the plastic by pulling them, so after the plenum was off I pushed them out from the bottom (tapping on a 7mm long socket worked great, mostly). The injectors came out fine, but some of the plastic rings on the tip, below the o-ring, got buggered (meaning trash).

The question then is... will it be ok if there is no plastic on the very bottom of the injectors. The plastic seems to not even effect the nozzle tip spray. It looks like their main purpose is to hold the o-ring on.

Ok, 138 reads and no comment, I guess it is a pretty out-there question. Answer... apparently that bottom plastic ring is indeed just to hold on the o-ring. It drives fine.

Good to know. I don't imagine this is too common of a thing, so most people wouldn't know.
