Ok so now that I am finished wracking my brains out on the problem I have decided to buy a ECM for my 99. Today I call a salvage yard and some gal there tells me they are Vin Number sensitive, and that it is likely a dealer item that only the dealer can flash. Could someone that knows anything about this new issue please explain, because now we are talking close to $1000.00 to fix what might be wrong with this thing. PLEASE HELP!

I got a pcm from a 98 5.2 at the junkyard, and it works just fine in my 99 (except the cruise control). So I think any 98 and 99 PCMs with the same options should work fine. The big thing is the security system I believe.
