radiator fan

2002 durango slt 5.9l. Is it normal for the radiator fan to come on when i start the engine? Does not seem to turn off!

Which fan? The engine fan 'comes on' at startup for a minute or two, which is how the viscus fans work.

Yes, it is the big viscous fan in front of the engine.I guess its normal then. What is the
purpose of this fan?.Thank you
