For all who suggested checking motors and channels and wiring. It was neither of those things. It is the console itself. The switches wear out. They lock or freeze and then the next moment they unlock themselves. I saved the console of the last one I replaced and it worked fine. But it's old too. Need to find a new one and they're not cheap.
