Default 99 durango 5.9 tick

Hey guys. I traded my 99 grand cherokee for a 99 durango with a solid axle swap. Anyway I noticed that it had a tick but isn't a rod knock or doesn't sound like it anyway. I've done some looking on the net but haven't really found a whole lot. Is there something common that would cause this? I'm not so sure that mine is this loud but the tick sounds like the one in this video

I'm not sure where to start at. It is constant and I can't hear it inside unless I'm going through a drive through or by cars. Any ideas?

I'd carefully listen around with a stethoscope or something to see if the noise can be isolated. You might even just have an exhaust leak.

My ticking ending up being the PCV valve. Replaced it and ticking sound went away.

I apologize, it has a 5.2 not a 5.9 like the previous owner said.

It only seems to do it when it is warm...It doesn't do it when you first start it up....holds GREAT oil pressure and doesn't seem to burn any oil.

I will put my hand on the PCV valve and see if I can feel it making noise....I am also going to pull air filter off and checkout the throttle body and see if there is oil on it.

Do a compression check. If you have a low cylinder it is likely an exhaust valve walking in its seat. Mine ticked like that. Reman heads fixed it and made it run like new.
