Okay kinda confused in exactly what your asking but I will try to explain. You have a cross member that the transmission mount bolts to. I have slid the transmission out without removing the cross member but the engine was out of the truck. If the engine is still in the the truck it would be near impossible to remove the transmission without dropping the cross member. I have done it (5 times) and it's not a fun job to replace a transmission in a 4x4 durango. A little trick that I figured out last time was to make sure the transmission is jacked up both ends high as it can go (unbolted from engine) and the cross member should come out super easy if you push up on it. To put the cross member back In same way (transmission jacked up on both ends high as you can get it) slide the cross member in from the top (just a little above the bolt holes) and it will drop down and match the holes.. trying to pound it in from tell bottom again is almost impossible. Basically look at it this way.. imagine the body of the truck was off and your dropping the cross member In from the top..

I should add that when removing the cross member you must have the transmission forward so the bolts on the transmission mount don't go back in when pushing it up..

I'm talking about the ones that are on the front that look like they connect to the motor mounts I have everything close to be ready to be pulled but some one told me I have to pull those completely off and also the crankshaft sensor

Oh the front brackets.. I never removed them just unbolted... now the crankshaft position sensor I never removed but the last install I did hit it when I was installing the new transmission in. So 4 times I got lucky and the 5th time I had to replace it..

I'm currently doing this exact same project and you just have to unbolt the tranny from those brackets, do not completely remove those brackets (if you want to good luck cuz the motor has to come out). Any other questions I would be happy to help

Ya that's a pleasant thought but it never goes back in as easy as it came out, took me about 4-5 hours to get mine completely out, 4-5 hours of installation and the transfer case isn't bolted completely on yet lol. And I took it out in my garage and i'm installing it on a lift at my shop lol
