Before I buy a 30ft. trailer to pull behind my 00 4.7 4x4 Durango
Hey guys,
Is there anything I should know before I make a major purchase of a 30ft trailer to pull behind my Baby? Is it a good idea? Any tips or changes that I need to make to her first? Everything on her is factory, with exception of a new brake line & a few sensors I've had to replace. She has roughly 145000 miles on her. ♥ Thank you in advance.
Update: So I just read that I have to check with Dodge to get the tow ratings from them as to how much I can legally tow. From what I see, I may have to go smaller. hmm Not wanting to do that.
True but 30' of trailer is very heavy weight dry...and I doubt she'll be pulling foam insulation. That type of length sounds like a camper or a few cars.

And if it is a 4.7, why does it have the V8 Magnum badge?
Not sure what you mean about a badge, but my engine says V8 4.7L. so... lol

Yes, a camper is what I want to pull. But I read that around 6000-6500 gross weight is all I can pull legally. (or there about) So I have to look at smaller ones. Also asking because I know I'm not alone in pulling campers with a Durango. Hoping to get ideas as to the cost I will be facing.
Why pulling that much? A: Taking my life on the road for adventure. I'm not getting younger, and I have only left my home state a few times. lol
Looks like you have the exact same D-Rex as mine (2000, 4.7L V8 Magnum, 4x4, etc...). I've heard a couple of different figures, but I think ours can tow around 4500 lbs. 6000 sounds like an overload.
