Default updated stater and alt...

Hello. Im looking to get an upgrade/updated alternator and starter.
I am at 170,000 miles on the original alt and starter. I feel I should get them before they go out on me and leave me stranded.

Is there an newer generation alt and starter I can get? Rather than the standard replacement for my 2002 4.7L came with...

For example on my 2006 ford truck it is very common to update the starter and alternator that is in the 2010 year of truck. They perform better than the alt and starter that my 06 ford truck came with...

Thanks for your time.

I was looking for a high torque starter when mine went out but found out they don't make them for the 4.7.

You got 170k out of the original stuff, why upgrade to fancy. Just replace with decent new and you're good for another 100k+.

There are higher current alternators around, but I haven't heard of anyone using them.

I don't know what amperage on mine... But I see options for 160 amps and 136 amps. I'm going to get a 160 amp. And I am still looking for in later model alternator.

If you are not using any power hungry accessories it's really not necessary. And some of them are $$$.

My R/T came with 160amp, per the window sticker build sheet I still have. So those 160's are not some aftermarket amperage unit.

160 amp was part of the tow package IIRC, was designed to help with the higher electrical load that a trailer ads to the truck

I'm finding stock alternators and stock replacement alternators at 160.
So I'm assuming that my stock alt is 136?

Don't assume.... use the correct tools - Enter your VIN on this page:
