Default Low Oil Pressure

Hi, new here. I have a 99'Durango 5.9. I seem to have low oil pressure when driving. It stays just below 40 even at highway speeds. It use to go to 70. I flushed the engine and checked it the next day and the oil was crysta clear which leaves me to believe theres no sludge in there. It never drops below that and when started cold it goes up to 70 for a few seconds then drops. I replaced the sending unit in the begining of summer. Is 40 ok at highway speeds or should i be worried. One more thing it burns oil probably a quart every 1,000 miles. Im guessing from reading some of the posts its the intake gasket. Is this to much oil to be burning or should i look into getting this fixed and how can i test to see if this is whats causing my oil to burn. No leaks anywhere.

Thanks for any info in advance. Love my Durango want it to last!!!

How many miles are on it?????

It sounds like your bearings are worn a little bit. I have only 3000K on my new custom built motor and I run about the same.

I have 80,000 miles on it. Is this something i should be concerned about for the future or no need to worry?

UPDATE: Even thought I had the oil sending unit replaced about 4 mos. ago I decided to check it out again. I hooked a manual guage on it and it went up when i increased the rpms. So i went and bought another one 30 bucks at auto zone. Now I have great pressure 40 at idle and around 75 at 2000 rpms. So i guess i flushed the engine for nothing but who wouldve thought I would get a bad sending unit right from the dealer. Thanks for the replies. Oh ya this time i used a oil stabalizer by lucas. Brought pressure up even more and is suppose to really stick to engine parts to avoid dry starts. Its 100% petroleum. Just figured since i flushed recently i would give it some extra lube. Thanks all.

Where is the oil sending unit located? I want to check it manually.
Thanks

Uprock:

The sender is usually threaded into the block fairly close to the oil filter.

This is not always the case, but most of the time.
