1998 Durango 4X4 5.2L Magnum ..... I purchased this used a couple months ago ... Went to use the AC and noticed no cool air ... Realized I was not even hearing the compressor clutch kick in ... Today I checked it out ... Hooking up clutch directly to power does kick it on ... Voltmeter on wire plug, to the clutch, never shows any voltage ... I took out the AC relay to switch it with another ... When I put it back the clutch kicked in for a second or 2 and turned right off ... I'm thinking it's some kind of safety switch or sensor turning off the power because something is not right? Any ideas?
I'd check the a/c pressures with a manifold gauge set (connects to both the high and the low side) to see what's going on. It doesn't have to be an electrical issue it could just be low on refrigerant.
