Help, info needed on engine...
Does anyone have a drawing or picture of the engine, i need to find out where coolant is leaking from. I know i should read the manual but my sister lost it. I have 98' 5.2L 4x4 version. Thanks.
I looked at my manual and the pic of the engine is pretty small and not much help. Next, i read the section on coolant and it says if frequent coolant additions are required, or if the level in the reserve tank does not drop when the engine cools, the cooling system should be pressure tested for leaks. Thats about all the help the manual is. You might want to check your water pump. It has the same type of black hose connected to it and runs the coolant back to the radiator. The pump i believe is run off the same pully as the fan but its still located at the front of the engine and not at the middle. the coolant may be running down the engine block some how. Not sure, good luck with it.
Seanery, the truck has 160,00miles on it. I'm not quite sure if there's oil mixed in or not. Seems like it's too clear to have oil in it. Is a headgasket pretty easy to replace, I may replace it anyways. (since it's probably due for a new one)
Custom R/T, thanks for letting me know how useful the manual is. I think input from this board is much more convenient and useful.

Check around both the upper and lower Radiator hoses, make sure the hose clamps are tightened down nice and snug. If it's not leaking from there check around the water pump area, if you still can't find the leak then have the cooling system pressure tested. You can see if you have a cracked block or blown head gasket by draining the oil, if the oil is really milky looking it is a sure sign that you Coolant is mixing with the Oil.
Headgaskets are usually not easy to replace, they usually require tearing down the entire top-end of the motor and should be left to a mechanic.

Leaking from above the oil filter on a magnum engine sure sounds like a core plug. No you dont want to have to change them. If 1 is leaking all are going to be. The 2 behind the block inside the bellhousing are going to be real tough to do without a hoist and a few years of experience.
