I recently had tranny problems at the end of last year and it was such a headache to get my Durango running new again. Took about 3 months to get the problem all fixed between me, my dad, and my neighbor who is a ford transmission specialist. I have a 1998 Dodge Durango. I started off doing the whole electrical components in the tranny pan, which worked for a little then went to crap shortly after. Ended up pulling the entire transmission and rebuilding it and replacing everything. Still did not work. I had my pcm replaced like 5 times and gave up. One final leap of faith I said it had to be one of my sensors even though they were all new. One last jump me and my dad each thought it could be a different sensor, governor and the overdrive, and once we re-replace those two parts she has been running like a charm once again. I got my rebuild kits off ebay with oem parts. however my reason for thinking my governor was a bad part is because it was apparently a more efficient aftermarket one and allowed more flow. I don't remember what my dads reason for the over drive sensor being bad was, but after re-replacing them both she was up and running. So my advice to you is to make sure that the electronics that where added in the tranny are all oem and not some better more efficient way of life. Hope you get to the bottom of it. I know the tranny struggle. I even had my friend who was a tech at dodge look for any wire short from start to finish.

Well, the back ordered PCM came in on 10/21 and is in for 2 weeks now and doing ok so far. All transmission circuits were checked by Dodge service prior to installation here in Grand Junction CO and checked out OK. The old PCM was diagnosed with a bad governor pressure sensor circuit stuck at 98 psi.

The final nail in the coffin for me and Dodge is that they will not extend the warranty to cover the replacment PCM, so when my original 2 year warranty runs out in a month, if the replacement PCM fails, I'm SOL according to the local dealer. This is PCM #6 in 2 years. If it fails again, I'm junking the car out and looking for a Chevy.

So That's all folks. End of saga for me... Thanks to all that gave constructive advice.
