Default How To Make your 5.9 1st-Gen More Fuel Efficient.

Any tips on how to make my 1999 Durango with a 5.9 Magnum more fuel efficient? Obviously I know a good Air Filter and correct Tire Pressure, as well as being in-tune... but doe any of you owners know anything I can do to my Durango to up my MPGs? I just got a job in New York (Easter Queens), and I live in Central NJ; It's about a 90 minute commute, and there are always several choke points with traffic. Any suggestions?... Besides getting another job, obviously - I'm not stupid, I'm just poor - but I don't want to give up my Durango for a little Rice-Burner.

Not much you can do besides what you already know.

Check out the hyper-miling forums for better driving techniques. Outside of that you have the basics. From there you would have to start changing things like compression ratios and the cam which is more money than its worth for the fuel increase unless you're into doing those kind of mods for the fun of it.

Find a tractor trailer and stay in his draft, That is good for few more mpg's.
