Default 4.7 to 5.9 can it be done?

threw a rod through the block of the 4.7. i have a parts durango with the 5.9l and tranny at my disposal. Can i swap these two out? is it even possible? I dont care about "look for another 4.7""its easier to swap to 5.7 hemi" "sell your 5.9 and get a 4.7 or 5.7" thats not what im asking for. it gets me literally, nowhere. I want to know if this can be done, and what i need to do if it is even possible. thanks.

You know fixing the 4.7 is the best approach. But it sounds like you're going to do it anyway, possible or not. Good luck.

dont you have to change motor mounts, transmission mounts, engine wiring harness, possibly other harnesses that i dont know about? maybe have to change the entire vehicles wiring harnesses? what about the gauges? overdrive?

Some states do not allow swapping to a motor older than the vehicle.

You would need to switch everything. Powertrain all wiring under hood and inside and computers. I'm not sure if the front diffs are the same if its 4x4 cause of motor mount locations and I cant remember if the dash boards are different or not.

I get this all the time over in the Jeep forums. Guy wants to use his back yard parts source vehicle, no matter what. Over there, after a few 'thats just nuts' posts, the OP tends to yield to sanity and use a proper motor from elsewhere.
