Intermittent vibration
Hello all
I have a 98 Durango 4x4 with an intermittent vibration that I am having trouble tracing.
At different speeds I get a vibration that is like when you hit the rumble strips on the side of the freeway. It can start at any speed above around 35 mph. It will vibrate for a bit and then the vibration goes away.
If I let off the gas the vibration stops. If I shift it out of overdrive it stops. It seems to happen more often in cold weather and rough streets. I've driven a few miles with the overdrive off and it hasn't started vibrating but I don't think I have enough test miles to really make a difference.
I looked at the u joints on the rear driveshaft and they look to be in good condition with no play.
Other pertinent info - 5.9 motor and the trany was rebuilt a few thousand miles ago.
Thoughts and ideas?
