Default 5.2 pcm in a 5.9

Question, I have a 99 4x4 SLT durango with the 5.9. My PCM went bad in it, I have a 5.2 pcm that I haven't reprogrammed for the 5.9 yet, if I put itbin, will it be okay to run for a little while till I get it programmed? Or will it mess up my truck

If it works you will not have the full power available that you are used to with the correct PCM, if it doesnt work the truck wont start. I have not heard of someone trying a 5.2 PCM in a 5.9, going the otherway i have seen work tho so i dont see why it wouldnt. Give it a try and let us know.

well, it worked, kinda...lol. Truck had the take off of a 4 cylinder, it died several times on me, but unlike with the bad PCM IT started back up. I put the bad one back in and now I just have to get the new one reprogrammed

glad to hear it 'worked' for ya, at least as a troubleshooting step.

Thanks for reporting back!

My 5.9 pcm went "bad" with the "no bus" heat related fault. I replaced it with a used PCM which was a -102 type for a 5.2 4x4. It ran fine for a few years before I got a -147 that works just fine as well.

The only problem I found with the 5.2 PCM was the tranny shift speeds were different. But the wheels were a different size too, so that was most of it.
