Transfer case driveline question
I have a '99 Durango 4X and wondered why there is a double U-joint (I've heard it called double CV joint) connected to the output of the transfer case. There is of course another U-joint on the front differential. Isn't the two U-joint design prone to early failure due to instability?
I have a bad squeak under the D and I think that's where the squeak is coming from. Please help me with some background or upgrade knowledge. Much appreciated!!

I have a 98 Durango and it has the same thing. I also found some that have a cv joint. From what I found the double u joint is strong than the cv. But I still never found why the double u joint. What got me looking was Moog unjoint replacement packages only came with 4 and I have 5.
Don't know why it is the double joint. But the squeaking could definitely be a U joint. My U joint at the rear differential was going out and started as an occasional light squeak in reverse and ended up being a full time squeak. Never any vibration. Got under the truck, the U joint was in horrible shape. Don't know how I didn't completely lost the U joint and drive shaft on the side of the highway. And all it was was a squeak
