Default no 3rd gear, 4th gear, or overdrive

Hey Everyone.

I bought a 2000 5.9 Durango today that runs great but wont shift. I think it is stuck in 2nd gear. Manual shifting from 1st works well. Its throwing the following codes: p053, p1765, p0443.

Its driveable. I drove it 140 miles home from where i bought it. You just cant go much over 65 MPH because thats about 2700RPM.

I plan on getting the selenoid replacement kit and installing it.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks

Your Durango should have the 46RE trans. 4spd auto with locking torque converter. (4th gear is overdrive.)

P053 is for the pre-cat O2 sensor. Replacing it should solve the problem.
p1765 means the PCM doesn't see the trans getting its 12v supply. That will render all of the electronics in the trans inop. So, no shifting, no O/D, no TCC. Possibly just a bad relay. Need to dig in, and see.
p0443 is a purge valve code. (emissions.)

Verify you are getting power TO the trans first. Go from there.

Thank you all for the help. I really appreciate it.
I typod one of the codes and just noticed. Its p0753 not p053.

Yes. I knew the car was having transmission issues when I bought it...but its in really good general condition and the nice lady only wanted $1000 for it.

Default Same issue

I have the same issue in mine. I'm told replacing the shifter sylenoids will do the trick, haven't got to it as I have cooling system problems now. Look forward to an update or I will update as soon as I get there.

I ordered this:

It should be here in a few days and I am going to install the new parts. I'll let you know how it goes.
