where is a good place to get used transmissions?

Default where is a good place to get used transmissions?

I am trying to fix my 2000 5.9 v8 slt, there was a tranny fluid leak and now the tranny is toast. The shop i took it to is trying to charge me 4 grand and i dont have that much so does anybody know good spots to get good used transmissions?? thx!

You're probably looking at junkyards or Craigslist.

Depending on location, there are speciality recyclers (brand specific junk yards) that might have what you need...in my case, there are quite a few in Rancho Cordova, CA (Sacramento area). I got an auto trans from a rolled vehicle with about 80k on it for $425...knock on wood it is still working strong.
