has anyone used the mobil1 7500 miles stuff? ive used it twice so far and it seems pretty good. it is a synthetic blen oil. how is that different than the full synthetic blend oil? it says you can change it at 7500 miles, i do mine at 6000 miles. but with a full synthetic, you can change it at 7500 miles too. which oil would be better for a druango 5.2 with 62000 miles on it? how does this oil compair to the reg synthtec mobil1 oil? i want to keep changing the oil at 6000 miles so shoudl i stick with this or change to reg mobil1?
thanks

Use whichever you like the best. Personally, I prefer 100% synthetic, but that's just my opinion. A synthetic blend is better than regular dino oil at any rate. A syn blend should be a little cheaper as well, compared to 100% synthetic....

Make sure you use a quality filter as well......

I started with Castrol syntec for a while and changing at 6000 miles. Now I use Castrol Syntec blend and changing it at 5000 miles using regular oil changes. Cheaper on price this way. Bottom line is, as long as your oil remains clean betwen changes, your engine is good to go and problaby last a very long time.

I agree with you Kensai 100%. No matter what kind of oil you use, wether it breaks down at 3000 miles
or 7500 miles, it gets dirty. I have changed my oil in my cars at 2500, if it looks dirty enough.
Clean oil is the best oil. I use Castrol 10-40 in my enviroment.

Now let's get this right. A synthetic blended oil is no different that regular oil. Both use the same oil base. A synthetic MOBIL oil is broken down to 2 molecules. When you mix both together you get no extra protection because you are still using the regular oil base which still has not been broken down as much. You either take Full Synthetic or regular. Full Synthetic means (in MOBIL at least) it's broken down like I said to 2 molecules, so if you put in full Synthetic you get excellent protection as well as cold startup protection if you use a filter with a check valve and good filtering microns. I like to use Fram Tuff Gaurd because it has 98% and 99% filtering capability's @ 20 micron's and they have a check valve. If you use their Full Synthetic you can go 7500 miles with not much stop and go traffic, towing, or dirt roads. If you drive these conditions then you should change your Full Synthetic every 5000 miles. But as for the differences either one or the other only. The blends are just marketing crap so don't fall into them.

I guess when people see synthetic labeled on the oil, they think it is good. That is good news to hear then. I'll switch back to full synthetic then.

I don't think I can dedicate myself to change the oil every 2500 miles. Too often to change and I get lazy very fast if I have to do it too often! haha. If your engine is in good shape, I would rather pay nearly double the price to go synthetic and then take the oil changes to every 5k. So basically cost wise, it is the same between 2 regular oil changes and 1 synthetic oil change. Good advantage is, you don't have to do as often with synthetic. Give you more time to do other things with the Durango or just have extra free time!

Its not life or death to the engine, but I know engines run better on clean good oil. I have never been able to go 5000 miles and have clean looking oil still.

Kensai:

You got the idea. If you go to Wal-Mart you can buy a 5qt jug of Mobil 1 Fully Synthetic for about $20 or on sale for $18.50. You buy that, and $5 for the filter you got it made! I like to pull my Fully Synthetic out at 5000 miles just to be safe but if I go over a small bit it's ok and I know.

Digitoxin:

Just because the oil is black doesn’t mean it is bad. The oil base is fine, this is how the industry can recycle oil. The additives are what turn colors and burn as well as impurities. Additives burn more with regular oil base then with Fully Synthetic because the base breaks down the additives as it moves through the system from the small irregularity's. As the oil gets hot the molecules get bigger and faster and they break the additives down faster. This is why you can go further on Fully Synthetic. Now when you pull the oil from the crank case it is going to be dark from additive decomposition and wear particles from the motor.

You can change the oil when you feel like you should and put clean oil in, and think it's going to last longer, (but it wont by very much). Unless your oil is burnt, then you don't have any additives left to protect your engine.

I've personally miked motors out with, and without, Full Synthetic with good oil change recommendations. The mike never lie's. @ 100K the Fully Synthetic motor miked out with OEM specifications for new. Regular showed much more wear. As long as you turn over the filter your buying and read the fine print on micron filtrations and buy the best, You should have No, or very very small particles left from filtration.

NOW go buy Mobil one Fully Synthetic, throw it into your truck, with a great filter, and tell me you don't hear a difference right away on start up, cold start up, power, fuel milage, and just plain kick a@@ sound!
