Default Overheating, puddle underneath, cool air from heater, tea pot sound

Could use some help. My 5.9 4x4 Durango's been good to me, but today there was a large puddle as I backed out (near half-gallon) and it started overheating immediately. Heater blows cool, but sometimes hot if I move the *****.

The leak is in the engine compartment right corner near the passenger. I'm not sure what the junction is there, but it steams and whistles like a tea pot. From the it runs down the wheel well and leaks just in front of and below the passenger door.

Here's a pic. I can't find what this is in my Haynes manual.

I believe that’s your electric water pump. Do you have a 2000-03 durango with the rear overhead heat/ac? 98-99 didn’t have designated rear heat, only ac, so they don’t have the electric water pump. But that’s exactly what that looks like is leaking to me.

Yes, it's a 2001 with rear controls. Thanks for the tip!

No problem. They have that electric pump to help get coolant to the rear heater core because it’s all the way at the rear of the truck

yup +1 looks like the assist pump for the rear heat, might as well replace at least the hoses while your in there (they are cheap and getting old if they havent already been replaced)
